Hi I have just upgraded our forumto v9.50 but now when a user tries to create a new topic and admin included we get the following error message:
Server Error in Forum Application An error has occurred while writing to the database. Please contact the forum administrator.
Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_save_new_topic_data File Name:- new_post.asp
Error details:- Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.tblTopic' with unique index 'tblTopic$Start_Thread_ID'.
Users can post in topics already created but not create a new topic
Any ideas??? Regards

Have you migrated the database across from a different database type?
What version did you upgrade from?

I've always kept up to date with the versions. It was on 9.06 (the one before this) and its worked perfectly. But upgrading to 9.50 just stoped me creating new topics

This is a database issue, have you altered, changed, or run any database tools on the database?
If you have paid support you may want to create a support ticket through your Client Area account and give your forums admin login and database details so that your forum and database can be looked at to find what the issue is.

Fixed it there was a rouge topic (Federal
Student Loans) in the database which had a TopicID and ForumID but all the rest i.e start_thread_id, last_thread_id where all 0. I don't know where or how this has been inserted into the database but remvoing it seem to work.
