Is there anywhere within the admin section or outside of the admin section that a log can be seen?

Moderator Log? Admin Log?

He is my question, and what I need help with.

We have just gained access of a board with over 14,000 registered members. It was not a complete turn over, at least not a happy one.

I have searched for all users in the admin group and I know who they are.

Is there anyway of searching for users that were given manual moderator options? Or resetting users to defaults? Just wondering, cause there are some weird things going on, on the board, that there seems to be no explanation for, and it sure makes it hard when there is no log to follow up with on who did what?

Can anyone help?

thanks

For what I know there should be no one that will be able to change the Admins unless you gave them rights to the whole forum.. unless someone hacked into your database because you didnt make it secure... then hackers can steal info from you there..

I would suggest having only 1 admin account, the hardcoded built in admin account with the ID of 1. If you hove the mouse over the member name you should see in the URL PF=1

If you log into the admin area and go to the Member Administrator page and click on the 'Group' column everyone will be listed in group order. You can then click on the member name to edit the account and change their group to one other than a moderator or admin group.

What if a user was given specific permissions, not through a group setting but individual permissions. I thought those would over rule any group permissions. That being true, if prior to me taking over the admin rights, if ONE user was given individual permissions that were the same as an admin, they would not show up in an admin group but still have admin options, correct? How would I ever that that ONE person out of 14,000?

Unless your forum has been modified you can not give individuals Admin rights, only Mod rights to selected forums.

So anyone given individual permissions would only have the same rights as those in the moderator group.

To add to Scotty32's comments, only the built in Admin Group has admin status on the forums, no other group can be given Admin rights.

You can see who is an admin as only those placed in the built in Admin Group would have admin rights on the forums.

Everyone has focused on addressing the admin portion of the original poster's question but he did also ask about looking for moderators.

To find Moderators-
Query the tblPermissions table for entries where the Moderate field is True.
If the Group_ID field is not zero, then the permission is applied to a group.
If the Author_ID field is not zero, then the permission is applied to a user.

So currently there are no tables for logging actions like a moderator deleting or editing a post. Is this on any roadmap or can it be deduced from the weblog easily?
