I dont think this is available but would be good to track an IP address for registered users. We are getting the occassional post which is an advert from registered users (so they register and the next day they are doing the post).

If I could track the IP address it might allow me to see block an IP rather than a login for those posters who are using multiple email addresses from the same computer in their dingy little hole.

I know you have the forum stats where it shows the list for the last 20 mins but against a user would be better.

Apologies is this already exists but cant find it

Thanks
Robin

Every time a user posts their IP address is recorded in the database against the post.

If as the admin or moderator you click on the 'Post Options' drop down there is a 'Block Posters IP' option, if you hover the mouse over this option it gives you the posters IP address, if you click the option it opens up a window to allow you to block the users IP address or range.

Sorry, I forgot, it also shows the posters IP address next to the time the post was created for admins and moderators. eg:-

Posted: Today at 11:10am - IP: 80.xx.xx.xx

What about users who register but don't then post? Can we get their IP address or do they stay a mystery?

Currently the IP address is not logged when someone registers, but now as most people are not using Access the next release can store more data in the database so will look at holding the last logged in/registartion IP address of the user.

That would be a great tool for blocking spammers, etc, who we catch before they post or activate their accounts.

Totally agree bill

There is nothing more frustrating than some numpty signing up, not even posting, and as such, having access not only to the whole forum, but to ever other users address there as well

I might have to ban some of them IMMEDIATELY LOL

It is on the 'to do' list to record the last login IP of the user. This would also include when they register.

By having the last login IP rather than just their registration IP it should mean that you always have that users most current IP address, which would be better for blocking their most current IP or IP range.

Are also looking at being able to do member searches based on IP addresses to see if a member has multiple accounts. This hopefully would be extended to allow searches of posts based on IP addresses to see if someone is posting under multiple accounts.

Bravo! Good show. Thank you!
Wow, you must have read our wish list. The other mods and I were just discussing this very thing........... spam and bad guys is a growing issue. Most members, at least the regular members, behave pretty well. All this time and only a couple warning shots fired at anyone.
No issues I can blame on software, and for the last few months, no issues we can blame on the ISP (thanks to Bruce, LOL)

Work is underway for this feature. So far it now logs the IP when the user registers/login.

This IP address is shown in the profile of the user to admin and moderators and can be cliked on to block.

The registration/login IP is also now shown in the members list in the admin area, and as well as being able to search or Username, Email Address, there is a 3rd option to search on the Registration/Login IP address.
