Hi, I think my boyfriend has gone into my hotmail account and changed my password using my secret question. The thing is, I know he has downloaded a 'hide my ip address package' so when he looks at his ip from his PC it tells him the real one and the one it is hid behind. Would hotmail be able to find the real one through the request he made to change it? or would the one he hid behind be all they could see?
thanks

It sounds to me like it isn't the Hotmail's problem that it sounds like you have other issues that needs to be taken care of first before you can resolve this issue.. Check the add and remove programs and see if you can locate the programming that is being ran to hide the IP address

These 'hide my IP' programs tend to use anonymous proxy servers to hide the IP address.
This means that often the only IP left behind is the proxy server. Alhough you can often still get the original users IP from the request header sent by the web browser.
Many companies use software such as MaxMinds GeopIP to detect and block people using these anonymous proxies, and/or also get the original IP from the browser header.
Anonymous proxies are often overloaded and course your internet connection to be very slow when looking at web pages.

Not sure if I understood your question, From whatever I understood, it is possible to fake the IP while surfing hotmail or anything. If you use any proxy site to browse any site, the site will not get any info about the actual IP address.
