When I promote a users post to a sticky topic or an announcment it stays UNTIL they EDIT the original post - then it goes back to a 'normal' topic. I have a user that likes to update the 'weather' post every morning - I want it to be a sticky post or an announcement in the forum. He simply 'edits' the same post so as not to create a new one every day - when he edits it - it loses it's sticky/announcement status.

Can that be fixed?

You would need to give this user moderator rights in the forum to be able to set a post as sticky/announcement status.

This can be a possible feature for the future releases where the post would understand its status and preserver the same after being modified by a user who has less previladge than the user(mod/admin) who set the status of the post.

that would make sense - why would a normal user be able to downgrade it if a user with priv's made it sticky or an announcement... it should retain it's status once set by a user of higher rights/privs

can't do that - don't want to do that.. but I want the post to stay sticky - seems like a simple thing to do to have it retain it's status.

This will be looked into, but the work around that is given is the only solution at the present time.
