I'm moving an old forum to a new server and updating the software from 7.01 to 9.5.

The forum seems to work OK but it won't let me browse to all the topics.

On the old server, if I select Show Topics = "All" I get Page 1 of 172.

On the new server, if I select Show Topics = "Any Date" I get Page 1 of 42.

The topics on page 42 of the new forum corespond to page 42 on the old forum, albeit it only shows the first eight of the expected twelve topics, so it's not a topics-per-page issue.

I know the posts are there because I've searched for the title of the oldest posting and been taken there by the search, but it's not possible to browse to it.

Is this a configurable value somewhere or a limitation imposed since 7.01 was relaeased ?

Adrian.

I believe WebWizForum V9 is limited to 500 records for performance reasons.

Thanks for the answer, and apologies for not replying sooner EmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassed

That certainly seems to work out right with the number of pages and topics.

This limit will be removed in 9.51, due out next week, if you enable advanced server side paging for SQL Server 2005/2008 and mySQL database versions as the new server side paging for these databases types means that the number of Topics/Post will not effect performance.

If you use Access or SQL Server 2000 then I'm afraid you would be stuck with the limit to prevent your forums performance degrading and negativity effecting server performance.
