How do I set certain fields of the new user registration process as required? Such as User Name and email address? Is this possible?

Username is already a required field. If you want email address to be required then you would need to enable email activation from the email settings page in the admin area.

What about other fields such as Real Name, Age and Location? Is there a way to make those required?

There is a way Chad Thumbs Up but then you would have to ensure that not all and sundry could access their personal information

Okay. What we're trying to do is require more information for registration so that when our moderators allow someone to sign up for the forum there will be some identifying information when they look at their profile in the Memberlist. We have a predefined audience that our moderators know but they don't necessarily know the email addresses of the people that will be signing up something like a real name and maybe something else to help identify them better. This may be way too much of a hassle but I'm trying to see what I can find.

So our moderator will get an email from a new registrant. The moderator would log in to the forum and go to the Memberlist. The moderator would see that the user should or shouldn't be a part of the forum by the information given and allow/block that user. I just want to make sure that people fill out a few more fields so that it's done correctly.

It's a silly way to go about it but it's what I have to work with. Wink

That's not soooooooooo bad
Some peeps still want to have all these additional modifications but using the stone-age versions Approve

so that's a positive start
Have you any idea where to start then? Have you used ASP before?

Sure and the actual person that would work with the ASP here is quite versed in it.

Hi Chad

like me your after same thing. I tried doing this on an earlier version but the page kept looping with errors. I now have another website im doing with same conditions... essentially the forums are closed to the public due to the nature of the audience being all under 18 with photos and names being attached to them.

however was quite frustrating in that new memebers would join the forums but with 60+ kids faces and names to remember and not all there email addresses would give much away about who they are!

im looking at adding an additional field as well which is also required:

Email
Name
Gender
DOB
Location
Mob Number (addition + Required)
Troop (addition + Required)

some guidance on this would be ace - donwloaded and now installed latest release.
