Dumb question which I hope I am posting in the right place …

Our forum (8.05a) has a couple of topics with many pages … as many as 70+. These have curiously high numbers of views. The ‘Active Users’ page normally shows over half the Guests to be Search Robots. The percentage of ‘bots’ is much higher in off-peak hours. I seem to remember reading a post here on this forum that indicated that when bots/spiders view a topic they hit all the pages so 1 hit is recorded as 72 views if the topic is 72 pages long. Do the reported ‘views’ then really not reflect how many human people are reading the posts?

If you upgrade to version 9 then search robots are excluded from the topic view count.

Thanks WebWiz-Bruce ... Looks like an upgrade is the thing to do ... So I can assume I was correct about the bot views resulting in a hit for each page in the topic? I searched on this forum and the www and didn't find anything but I swear I read this. I'll try some new keywords after lunch. Anyone have a link?

and current version is 9.55

anyone have any ideas?
