Hi,

I would like to know:
1. How much space is dedicated to the forum and to the database, for Business you have 250 MB, is this the total amount of space for DB & forum & site content or the space dedicated to the forum is separately ?

2. Do you charge monthly or is there any discount if we pay for 3 months, 6 months or 1 year ?

3. Do you charge automatically the card every month (or what is the period) or do we have to initiate the pay procedure every time?

Thank you

1. You mention the Business Package, but which one are you looking at? The Business Web Hosting Package or the Business Community Hosting Package?

Both packages can have Web Wiz Forums Premium Edition installed but both come with different limits.

2. You can pay monthly, quarterly, or annually. Paying quarterly works out around 10% cheaper than paying monthly and paying annually works out around 20% cheaper.

3. Payment reminders are sent out 28 days before the due date. You then need to login to your Client Area account to make the renewal payment.

The Business Website Hosting Package allows you to host up to 4 separate websites. You get 5,000MB of diskspace which can be used between your sites to store website files, databases etc.

Database resources with the Business Package include 2 x 150MB SQL Server 2005 databases, and 2 x mySQL databases with 200MB of diskspace.

Over the next month we will also be launching a new range of hosting packages based on 64 bit versions of Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008. These packages will have increased limits as well as performance benefits, including improved support for ASP.NET and native PHP support using FastCGI.

Bruce, how many post/threads, on average, can a ms sql server with a limit of 250mb hold?  I know this would be a guess, but that doesn't seem like a lot of space for a fairly active website.  Do you allow people to purchase additional sql server space, and also bandwidth and hard drive space?  If so, how much do you charge for additional?  Thanks.

A 250MB SQL Server database should be able to hold around 200,000 posts. Extra SQL Server disk space is available for £14.99 per year for 100MB.

However we will be launching new packages in the next few weeks based on our new Windows Server 2008 platform with SQL Server 2008 and for Community Packages database sizes will be around the 500MB mark.

Ok, one last thing Bruce, you answered the question about adding additional sql space, how much is it to add additional bandwidth and hard drive space if needed?  Thanks.

The amount of bandwidth you have is very large already, also we use compression which reduces your bandwidth by between 40% and 70% whilst making your pages load faster so rarely have we even seen anyone go above the limits. Usually if you find that you require extra bandwidth over multiple months you will be asked to upgrade the package to the next package up.

If you are worried about bandwidth for a Web Wiz Forum then typically on our systems we see forums with between 100 and 200 active users at all times using around 40 to 50Gig of bandwidth per month.

Our disk systems all use 15,000RPM Redundant RAID SCSI Disk systems which cost around  £800 per 100Gig, we also need to keep 40% of this free for system maintenance, so unlike many web hosts who use cheap SATA disks our diskspace allowance is not as high. However, the performance that you get more than makes up for this. If you find you require more disk space then it is available for £9.99 per year for 250MB.

You would also be surprised at how little web space a website or forum needs as files and images are generally kept small so the website loads fast in the persons browser. If you wish to backup precious files and documents that are not part of your website then we also give you 1,000MB of disk space on our file storage service 'StorageVault' for free with hosting packages for the storing of these types of files.
