Go into Forum Admin and choose batch delete topics

You can decide what time span and which forums

No, I know this option but it is not good, these are topics that have answers and I want to remove the old messages.
Your solution works only if there is no answer for a certain period. Wink

Are you trying to say that you want to keep the Topic but delete the Posts?   If so I think you might only be able to delete them one by one.. my best suggestion to you on this is why not just start a new topic of the same topic? and let it build up again..

You can also lock individual topics and from the admin area batch lock topics by date.

This would then mean people would need to start new topics.

If you find performance an issue on large topics then as long as you are using mySQL or SQL Server 2005/2008 then update to the latest version which uses faster server side paging to handle very large topics and forums.

Borg thank you I have the latest version MSQL2005
I've got this error when I try to delete a big topic
Quote Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]

SQL Server does not exist or access denied./forum/delete_topic.asp, line 178

But it works well on a normal topic

This could be the sql server configured not to allow large queries to run.

I need to clean my database because I'm 250% of my quota to my hosting

How can I increase the time out to file delete_topic.asp?

It is something that needs to be done by your web host on the SQL Server.

I have access to SQL Server 2005 by the Management Studio Express but what I have to do to clear the topic, included posts and update the counters?
What is the SQL query ?

TID=51&PN=1

Time out increases and to increase the query governor so a large delete query like this can be run need to be done by a systems admin on the server.
