Looks like your SQL Server login to your database is denied.

Check your database login and that you have permission to access the SQL Server from the new servers location.

But has the server name changed?  Or the IP address of the server?

Was the website originally on the same server as the database?

If so, check that you have not got "localhost" as the database location.

Also, check that the server the website is currently on has access to the server with the database.

The Web site (Intranet) and forum was on one box
The SQL server was on another Box

The Web site and Forum was moved to a new box - and forum was just copied accross
The SQL server is unchanged still on the same box

Check any firewalls you may have running and the connection itself as it may not let you connect to the SQL Server from your new web server.

Sorry if I sound thick, but is the SQL database and the forum software running on the same "box" as you put it? If not, then it must be a database connection issue ie. incorrect path to your database that is giving you this error

Surely Ermm

TWS,

He used to have them on the same "box".

Hes recently moved the website files to a different box, and kept the Database on the original box.

He now can not connect to the database.

By default many versions of SQL Server have remote connections disabled by default.

You need to enable TCP/IP connections to the SQL Server on the IP address you want to use to connect to your SQL Server.

You can use the SQL Server Configuration Manager on the server that SQL Server is installed to enable this.
