Hi,

Yesterday I switched a forum install from 8859-1 to UTF-8 to match the rest of the website. Shortly after users who were pasting from Word started reporting that their posts were distorting.

Apostrophes and quote marks were outputting like this - ” - and I believe it was only the paste from Word function causing this problem. I'd like to move to UTF-8 to ensure the entire site is using the same charset so any suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers

R

Pasteing from word will always be an issue due to the amount of hidden bloated code within word documents.

Probably best to ask your users not to paste from word, they can always use browsers like Firefox that have built in spell checkers, or if they insist on writing the post in word first ask them to copy it to notepad then to the forum so that it only copies across the text and not all the hidden word code.
