I have been using IE8 recently and am annoyed by it's behaviour. When you open a thread which has the post editor (at the bottom for reply to the thread), the editor field gets the focus, the screen auto scrolls to this field meaning if you intended to read the posts above you have to manually scroll way back up.

I understand that this behaviour is tied to IE's handling but I have found it a particularly nuisance when using WWF. Has anyone found a method to disable this behaviour in IE8 or failing that, what files need to be modded to disable the auto focus in the form field?

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/features/enhanced-navigation.aspx - Check this page out on Microsoft
Remember you are using a Beta program so nothing can be guaranteed

No joy on that front I'm afraid, I had already tried the compatibility option, including applying to ALL sites. I know it's not a bug and not even strictly related to WWF, just thought someone here may have had this and found a resolution.

I use FF too but write apps which must support all browsers and therefore find myself using IE on ocassion. I'm sure I'll find a way round it and I'll let you know when I do ;o)

Never Never use IE as a browser!  Its full of holes and hasn't  been off the life support systems since ver 4.0

Get firefox and stop wondering if it will work or not.

IE 8 RC1 is now out. I have tested this in IE 8 RC 1 and this no-longer happens.

IE 8 is even more buggy. The only reason why I am using it is for testing. I would stick with using Firefox.

Most of Web Wiz Forums works fine in IE 8 RC1, except for a bug in IE 8 which means that the search drop downs are not rendering correctly. The text box is still there is you type try and type in it, it's just not displayed.

This issue with IE8 has been fixed with the full release of IE8.

So far there are no issues with IE8 support in 9.56

I also see it in IE 7 - any way to disable the focus for IE?

Never heard of this issue before with IE7 and no focus is set so it should not happen.

However, are you sure you are not getting confused? as when you create a new post an anchor link is used to take you directly to the new post you have just created which would generally be just above the quick reply box.

Yes, the issue was resolved with full release of IE8, have never seen this issue on any other version or other browser (firefox, safari, chrome, opera)
