When sending messages through the forums and the tick box is checked to say that i want to be notified when the recipient opens the message an error occurs:
Server Error in Forum Application An error has occurred while sending an email. Please contact the forum administrator.
Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_send_mail_footer File Name:- functions_send_mail.asp
Error details:-
The
server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response
was: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable or not local
|
however when in the email configuration area of the admin section and testing the email setup it works and I receive the email.
Any suggestions

The error is due to the fact that one of your members has requested email notification to a local domain for a mailbox that doesn't exist so the mail server is rejecting the email.
If you upgrade to the latest 9.54 version it has a new email error handling built in which will prevent your users from seeing this error and allow the software to continue sending the emails past the bad email address and your users will be unaware of the issue.

Hi Bruce
Resolved, helps if I add the email address for the forum admin to the hosting!
Will still look at doing the upgrade to 9.54 however is there a upgrade procedures that I need to follow to do the upgrade?

There are no database changes so it should be a simple case of downloading the latest version, and uploading, remembering to change the details in your database_connection.asp file
Also, if you have made any personal modification changes, these would need to reimplemented and as a precaution, backup your database and forum as it stands now
Its wiser to take precautions in case of accidents you know
