Hello there,

We have been using Web_Wiz forums for the last eight years on http://www.Age-Net.co.uk - www.Age-Net.co.uk .  The users are familiar with them and they have served the site well.

Recently, when our hosting company upgraded their servers we decided to have a 'clean' install of the latest build.  My host did the connection strings for me and installed to an SQL database.  All looked good and in the first 24 hours members started to migrate to the new forum build.  Lots of praise about the improved speed of the forum etc.

Then, in the early hours of yesterday - having only run for a day - the forum locked itself into a "Forum closed for maintenance" mode.  I didn't know about it until much later so some unhappy users.  I eventually got the forum open again by using the Admin 'Lock/unlock' option a couple of times (although it was still showing the unlocked radio button).  This morning, the forums have closed down again with the same "Down for maintenance" message.

I can commit almost any sin on my site and it gets ignored, but a 'down' forum generates an immediate  torrent of complaints from users..........

Can anyone please suggest what might be the problem?

Kind regards,

Bob

As far as I know, Web Wiz Forum does not "lock" its self, you have to manually do this.

Are you still running the old forum? and did you lock the old forum?

If so I suspect that it is conflicting, go to the "includes/setup_options_inc.asp" and change the Application Prefix so that they do not conflict with each other:

'Set up application variables prefix

'This can be useful if you are running mutiple installations of Web Wiz Forums on the same site or if you are using free web where you share your application object with others
Const strAppPrefix = "WWF9"

Thanks Scotty.  I had assumed that running the two forums on separate databases and with a different path for each would prevent any clashes but that may well be the cause.

It was only my intention to leave the earlier forum accessable for a week or so, to give members a chance to migrate across, but I will now delete it and see if that sorts things out.
