Been using Windows 7 for a couple days now. All i can say is let Vista die and be forgotten as a horrible mistake and let Windows 7 take its place like WinXP did to WinME. Here is a list of new/improved features that i really love: * Its twice as fast as XP, and that was even proven. * Once its booted, its ready. Sleep actually works, and when it comes back from sleep its ready. Don't have to wait for anything to load (except Wireless has to reconnect, but that's expected). * I love the "Library" feature. It allows you to add "folders" to other folders without actually having to copy the files. * The new hover over taskbar items preview is really nice. I actually like it better and leave the "group similar items" enabled. * The "pin to taskbar" feature is really cool for programs i open very often. * The Wireless connecting is 1000x easier with a simple click from the systray. In Vista you had to go through a bunch of annoying windows. * The backup feature is tons better. You can plug in a USB drive and it gives you the option to "use as backup device" in autostart. Makes it really easy to use. * Sidebar is no longer... the gadgets just run the desktop. Sidebar was annoying and waste of space. * File transfers are much faster. * Uses way less ram than Vista on fresh install. Vista would easily use over a GB, my Vista with a bunch of stuff installed and running is hovering around 800MB. * Display settings can be set much easier. There is even a "Screen Resolution" option on the right click on desktop. * CPU never spikes anymore, hard drives are even noticeably quieter. * I havent even installed any ATI drivers and my games already have twice the FPS than they did in XP * The new "Active Center" is kinda cool i guess. Its a new item in the system tray that can report solutions to problems with the PC. * Searching seems to be a lot better now. They don't use "Indexing Services" anymore so im assuming they have finally come up with something better than doesn't use a bunch of resources. * UAC has been really improved. They made it less anonying and only pops up when absolutely needed. I may leave it turned on this time. Thats just a some what short list of improvements i like so far. They have made a bunch of other improvements and gave other things a better GUI layout. So far im really liking it. Anything that has pissed you off with Vista has been removed, fixed, or seriously improved in Windows 7. Give it a try before you go bashing it, or go ahead and bash it and looking stupid like the people that said Windows XP was retarded when it was released =) As for Macs, well, that's just a different group of people. | I have test this software myself as well MadDog.. I would agree with you... As Windows 7 is a faster program than Vista... I do like the new features that it came with as well.. As since the Beta Version is out right now.. you can not get any updates... but from what i have tested with it so far... I have not sen any flaws as of now.. it runs very smoothly and does get rid of all the stupid little pop ups that Vista came with.. like the questions about the security issues for every program that you run (ya that was Annoying) I would have to say So far so good in my eyes |

The beta for Windows Server 7 is also out which will test soon. Although Microsoft have now called it Windows Server 2008 R2. I imagine the name change is to prevent the backlash from businesses who have invested in Windows Server 2008 that came out less than 12 months ago. Rather than risk messing up your system I find the best way to test new OS's is to set them up as a Virtual Server. The free VMware Server runs on Windows XP and Vista and would allow you to test out these new OS's as Virtual Servers. I have been using Windows 7 Beta since it came out... and my laptop is loving it. I couldn't say the same for Vista! I have all 3 OS's installed; Windows 7 outperformed both XP and Vista. The cosmetic changes are also excellent and the GUI is much cleaner than Vista. From your description it sounds like a feature Linux has called Symbolic Links, a mix between short cuts and folders - which is one of the many features of Linux I love.

I don't care for Linux. Don't need your thread stealing attitudes nether. Since i use Microsoft programs and enjoy gaming, Linux is still not a good choice.
