I am having a challenge with a new forum installation.
 
We have tested mail settings and they seem to be functioning properly (tested both CDONTS and CDOSYS-Pick Up), but I am having an issue with notification to moderators of new topics, and new posts that require approval.
 
Other mail functions on the forum are working properly (new member activation email, email or reply to a post you are subscribed to, password reset). 
 
We have set all ladder user groups set to require post approval for all forums, and we have set the admin and moderators groups set as moderators for all forums.
 
When a ladder user posts a new topic, or replies to a topic, the post is flagged as needing approval, and that user gets the pop up stating that post must be approved.  No email is sent to moderator/admin groups though, so they do not know to go check the post.  Even checking the SMTP logs, there is no emails processed. 
 
Any direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

CDOSYS - Pickup will only send to a localhost mail server.

If your web host, as most now do, require that you use authentication with the mail server when sending emails using CDOSYS Pickup will mean your emails will only be develivered to local mailboxes.

You should select CDOSYS instead and contact your web host for the correct mail server and usename and password for sending emails through tehir mail servers.

That is the challenge.  Either CDOSYS or CDONTS.  Both deliver the messages for signup confirmation (which are definately not to local mailboxes).  IT is only the moderator notification emails that are nto being sent (when a new topis or post is amde).

Moderators need to subscribe to the forums they are moderators of if they wish to receive email notifications of posts that need approving.

Make sure that your moderators have a valid email address in their profiles and that they have subscribed to email notifications in the forums they wish to receive the notifications from.

To comply with anti-spam laws moderators will only receive email notifications of posts that need approving if they subscribe to that forums for email notifications.

ok,  THat sounds like the crux of the issue,  it is not that the mail component is not working, but rather that the moderators have not subscribed to each forum.  We will give that a try and see what we get.
 
Sorry for the confusion on the mail components.  I just meant to say that we tried the notifications with both components with the same results.
