I need a function much like scotty32's 'show latest topics', but would prefer the design from the original forum_topics.asp file, with the icons, posters etc.

Is there an easy way to modify a copy of forum_topics.asp to display topics from all forums?

I know a soloution could be to just have one forum, but I really need to keep my (many) forums for upcoming projects on my site. A lot of my users are moving from another website where they for several years have been used to just one forum - so this is to just please them. :-)

Have you looked at scottys mod, and tried "modding" that to your taste?

No, i haven't :-)

Just thought that maybe the change to forum_topics.asp could be a minor change, compared to modding scotty's mod to look like the standard forum. (But I don't know, of course) Just thought that it could be changed from ?FID=1 to accept something like ?FID=*

So if I understand you, you mean you would like the latest topics, but with the added icons?

This is _exactly_ what i need;

http://www.iportalx.net/default.asp%20" rel="no follow - http://www.iportalx.net/default.asp

the 'Latest Forum Posts' bit. Has anyone ever made that in webwiz? Wouldn't a copy of active_topics.asp be the best place to start if I want to make this?

Do you want this as a page? or just my mod with the extra information?

If you want my mod with the extra info, I could create a spin-off with more information than the current one.

If you want a page, can I ask whats wrong with the New Posts (Active Topics) page?

Hi Scotty, not sure what you mean...

Thing is, I have a lot of users moving from another website where thay are just used to one forum. As a service to them I want to offer a 'latest topics' page, much like yours, but would like it to look more like the standard layout, with icons etc. The page mentioned above has the excact layout/infos I'm looking for.

I would set this up as a separate page with like the latest 30-40 active topics.

I appreciate your work and help, thanks!

Just looked at the standard 'active topics' page, and if that page did not have the category filters, it would be spot on;

active_topics.asp ...
- with filter 'latest year'
- without category filter, subjects from all categories filtered by date
- 'in [forum]' info added to each topic

-already altered to 'show last 2 months' as default, was easy
- removed forum name headlines

- now i need to edit the sorting from 'forum name, date' to just 'date'

Can anyone help?

Line 420, is this what needs to be altered?

'Else Order by clause here
Else
    strSQL = strSQL & "ORDER BY " & strDbTable & "Category.Cat_order ASC, " & strDbTable & "Forum.Forum_Order ASC, " & strSortBy & " "
End If
