The forum software puts members in a different group depending on number of posts. Although it appears to reduce their post count correctly when posts are deleted, they remain in a high group...

...if the group cannot be maintained upon deletion like it is on creation then at least the resync feature might attend to this ?

Members are moved to the group when they create a post

Yes. However, when posts are deleted they are not moved back. On forums where posts are deleted members are in too high a group.

To correct this groups should ideally be maintained on deletion of posts or maybe this can be built into the update post count batch run.

The problem with doing it in other places is performance issues.

For example with the resync tool, if it also needed to run through and calculate the group for 1,000's of members it could course performance and time out issues as it would be allot of work.

It is something which has come up before and is being looked at to see if any improvements can be made.

With version 10 the ladder groups will work off a point system rather than the post count and as admin can change the number of points a member has will need to look at ways to improve the system.
