One of my moderators is unable to move any posts. He receives the following error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e2f'

Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.tblTopic' with unique index 'tblTopic$Start_Thread_ID'.

/forum/move_post.asp, line 143

It used to happen on our old Access db, but I couldn't replicate the problem on my test server. I'd hoped moving to SQL might magic up a fix, but alas not. All other mods and admins can move posts with no issues. Any help gratefully accepted!!

Ric

As you are posting in the version 8 forum I take it you are still using version 8.

Try upgrading to the latest 9.56 release as you may find the issue has been fixed as I do recall an issue with moving posts in version 8 but it has been quite a few years since version 8 was superseded by version 9.

Hi Bruce, yes it's v8. We moved over to hosting with you a few weeks back (aircooled.org...), as explained then, it's not a simple job for us to upgrade yet. :(

Try using the move_post.asp file from the latest release. It may work as I don't think there are any changes to this file that are specific to version 9.

Make a backup of your present move_post.asp file first though incase it doesn't work.

Ok, thanks, will give it a try. If that doesn't work, I might make him re-register as non of the other mods are affected.
