Bruce,

Is there any way (obviously for a future version), to have a feature which will allow bounced email addresses to be unsubscribed in the database automatically?

Ie, a 'cleanup' script which admins could run, which will go through the inbox of the sending email address, sniff for 550 bounces (for example), and unsubscribe that email address?

I know bounced emails could be ignored, but why send 5000 emails, when 50% of them are addresses that no longer exist.

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers,

Oli

Most email components can not pickup emails, but only relay emails to a mail server.

This means that without special components installed on the server it is not possible to retreave emails from an inbox to process them.

This would be similar to the upload feature.. most require the purchase of a separate component although there are free ones as well.  A pop3 component can be used.  There are some examples here:  http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/092201-1.shtml" rel="nofollow - http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/092201-1.shtml

Then, you would have to create a tool that an administrator would run, it would log into a mailbox with the bounced emails and then scan the mailbox for content and based on the contents, remove the subscriber. Plenty of work, but definately doable.
