Subject: how to enable nofollow links

Hi all, We just recently installed the forum and so far all looks good.
One thing we'll need to do is have links posted by visitors to be "nofollow"ed. I see that here at web wiz they are, so I know it's possible, but I don't know if it's a setting or a code hack or what?
Thanks in advance for any help.

To enable this edit the file includes/setup_options_inc.asp in notepad to enable nofollow to be added to any new links posted in your forum.

Thanks Bruce. I'm supposing then that this means there is no way to selectively apply the nofollow tag - if I want to nofollow links out of the forums, but to enable follow on links within the forums.
As all posts in our forums have to be approved before being published anyway, I was hoping there was an easy way (like a button in the text editor) for our moderators to moderate links. Perhaps this could be considered for a future version?

I think you will find that this only stops links that people may post within the topics outside of the forum, but I assume you mean if someone posts a link that is going to another post within the forum?

Not sure what you mean there, either you misunderstand how it works or worked it badly (or i misinterpreted it)
But to clarify, once enabled, the "nofollow" tag will be applied to all links from that point on, whether they're internal or external. Also this only affects Posts and user Signatures.
It will not be applied to links that already exist, unless the post/profile is edited.

OK, I just had a look at the options file, and the comment beside thee boolean no follow is: "To prevent search engine spiders/bots following links from posts to other sites etc. then set this to true so that links get the re="no follow" tag"
So, does this mean that web wiz is sophisticated enough to nofollow links that leave the root URL, but permits follows on links within the site / forum?
That's good stuff if true.
