At a guess I think you would need to change your forum encoding in the file includes/setup_options_inc.asp file

Sorry lexicon - I was only guessing on this occasion - I know that another forum using the dutch language had similar issues where diamonds appeared on certain words, and it was usually when there was an accent above a letter

Only speaking english I do not translate greek very well LOL
The forum creator will be here sometime later and he or others that are more knowledgeable than me, may have a far better answer

Your question has already been answered!!

The search works with all encodings, as I mentioned previously what breaks the search from working is if you change the encoding.

I will try and explain it as plainly as possible your issue so that you might get the idea, please read carefully so I don't have to explain it again:-

When you create a post it is saved in the database using the encoding set at the time, if you search the post the same encoding is used to encode the search words and so a match can be found.

If you change the encoding then any new posts will be encoded with the new encoding, if you do a search it will use the new encoding which will be able to match search results of new posts saved in the same encoding. However, old posts saved under the old encoding will be saved in a different format so the search will not be able to match them.

I will close this topic now as can't really keep explaining the same thing over and over as I feel like I am hitting my head against a brick wall here.

Essentially, if you have been using the default encoding then posts will be saved with that, so when you change to the Greek encoding, it will break existing posts.

If your forum is relatively new and does not have many posts, I would just live with it for now (the posts will soon be long and forgotten), or you could try editing them to correct the issue (if there isnt that many.

Actually, Are you entering the values for the Language file directly or entering the HTML value?
(eg to do the GBP symbol £ in HTML you do £)

If you are 'hard coding' the Greek symbols then you could try entering the HTML code for them, which can be found at http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_symbols.asp" rel="nofollow - W3Schools .

You would also need to set it to the default Encoding.
