Subject: How to upgrade the forum version?

Fireworkstown.com is just using the free forum ( http://www.fireworkstown.com/forum" rel="nofollow - www.fireworkstown.com/forum ) which is provided by Web Wiz Forum ( http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/webwizforums_pricing.asp" rel="nofollow - http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/webwizforums_pricing.asp ), now we want to upgrade it to the Premium Edition ($129 inc). How should we do?

By the way, if we upgrade Fireworkstown Forum to  the Premium Edition, if it means that our members would easily upload the videos and pictures to the forum (I couldn't upload the videos and pictures to the forum now)?

Any body can explain the detailed functions of difference versions for me?

Thanks.

Victor

The different editions are http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/webwizforums_compare_editions.asp" rel="nofollow - compared here and the detailed features are http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/webwizforums_features.asp" rel="nofollow - discussed on this page

Since you are running version 9.50 I personally would first run the free software upgrade to 9.56a, and then once you had done that, buy your licence and then when you apply the licence key, the software restrictions are lifted and you can benefit from the added features such as 10,000 PM's per member (5 on the free editions), image uploading which you mention and much more

You could but they would be as a download file rather than shown directly.

If you want to show movies directly in the post then you can use the insert movie button that is found in all versions including the free version to link to a Flash Movie or a movie on YouTube.

I had bought the “Single Instance License”, but don't know how to upgrade the forum. Do you mind kindly giving me an idea? When should I use the Registered Key?

By the way, if I upgrade version 9.50 to 9.65a , do I need to upgrade the database?

Our current forum is http://www.fireworkstown.com/forum" rel="nofollow - www.fireworkstown.com/forum

Waiting for ur reply.

Hi Victor

First you do not need to run the database upgrade tools from version 9.50 to 9.56a. If you have bought the licence just download the latest applicable version (MSSQL or MySQL) whatever you are running, and just modify the database_connection.asp file so it matches your current login and database details

Be sure that you run the correct update as there are 4 types of forum database versions - I would assume you are not running access - so you only have 3 to pick from Wink

LOL just been to your site and see you have already done the upgrade - good job I had not carried on typing LOL

One more question:
If I click "insert movies", I could only upload the video of flash format or Youtube, however, if I want to upload the video of .wmv format, how shall I do?

By the way, I had bought the “Single Instance License“, What is the service term I could be provided? I could use the it all life time or I  need to renew the fee every year?

Dealing with your licence first, you will have to check the date of purchase as the information below shows -
Premium Edition Single Instance License
1 Year Upgrade Protection
1 Year Email Support
Unlock Additional Features
Access to our online Client Area
One active installation + one test installation

So if you bought the licence within the last year, you have upgrade protection

On the movies issue playing UTube or Flash format is not an issue, as it is fairly straight-forward, but for .wmv format http://forums.webwiz.net/embedding-wmv-files_topic27251_post139442.html?KW=movies+videos#139442" rel="nofollow - read my other post here which may help
