Did anyone get to test this new search engine?
It's not just a typical search engine...

Look at what it can do: http://www.wolframalpha.com/screencast/introducingwolframalpha.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.wolframalpha.com/screencast/introducingwolframalpha.html

I've had a bit of a play.

It doesnt seem to be a 'search engine' (in the usual sense) as I've yet to given links to websites.

But it has given pritty interesting information back - and I've been rather impressed.

my tests:
  • http://www71.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=guy+fawkes" rel="nofollow - Guy Fawkes (Couldnt think of anything)
  • http://www71.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=9+september+1984" rel="nofollow - 9 September 1984 (date of birth)
  • http://www71.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=Stockport" rel="nofollow - Stockport (My home town)
And some others:
  • http://www71.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=microsoft" rel="nofollow - Microsoft
  • http://www71.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=monkey" rel="nofollow - Monkey

It seems very good for finding out information (wikipedia?) but not very good for finding a destination (eg I want to buy an MP3 player... show me a shop)

Right, it's doesn't seem to be a search engine...

Their internal calculator outperforms Google's... that's for sure.
