I wonder if anyone can assist please?

I've received several messages claiming that a forum thread can't be accessed.

The thread is http://www.irresponsibletourism.info/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=153&PID=401#401" rel="nofollow - http://www.irresponsibletourism.info/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=153&PID=401#401

One of the messages received reads:

I was trying to access the forum.. but got the message *Error* *Only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

***I even registered.. but still cannot access the discussion ( not even see it)

I can see the thread fine, there's been more than 60 views of the thread (at the time of posting this message) so it does seem to be an isolated problem - I've asked the person who submitted the above comment to advise whether they're able to see other threads.

If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd be most grateful!

First of all, what exactly are you having problems with? is it the thread or the forum?

I am able to access the thread you linked to, as well as the forum it is in, both as a Guest - I have not registered.

Is this your website or somebody elses?

If it is your forum then you should check the forum permissions in the administration area, if it is not your website then you should ask the website owner to do this.
As the forum permissions may have accidentally been set up wrong, denying access to a particular group.

Also I noticed the forum is running V8, it would be highly recommended that you (or the website owner) upgrade to the current version (V9.56a) as there have been alot of security fixes, as well as additional features added.

Hi, thanks for that.

I set this forum up for a client last year .... the forum permissions are all OK - the people that complain they can't access the thread have, as far as I'm aware, all been Guests - one of which registered but still can't see the thread.

I'm going to recommend to the client that the forum is updated to the latest version ...

Thanks for your initial advice ... is there anything else you can suggest?!
