Hi!
I hav update my forum from v9.55 to v9.60 and i used the installation guide to update the mysql databse. But get this error when i try to open a topic.
the error is:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f4' Variable is undefined: 'strTxtShareTopic' /forum/forum_posts.asp, line 938 i hope that somebody could help me.

The language files that you are using are not for the version you have and have some of the text missing for the latest version. This is quite easy to fix as text is appended to the end of the language files. Open up the files found in your language_files folders in a text editor and compare the end with those from the latest version, then copy and paste across the additional lines. thansk it work. But now i have a new problem with the CAPTCHA Security Code i got the error: invalid code.
I have tried to clean my cache file in the computer and deleted all cookies and the problem is still there.

The CAPTCHA Security Code has not changed since sometime last year, so you should not see an issue with it. I appear to have same issue moved from v9.5 to 9.60 but now have loggin problems .I have failed log in and now the security code needs to be entered but it keeps saying the security code is wrong !
I see from quote that captcha has not changed but there is an issue its not just me :-(

as per another post was told to close ALL browsers then went back to forum and was able to log in :-) .I had tried delete all cookies link but was still an issue .

This sounds very much like a server issue, with the server setup either unable to set ASP sesison variables or cookies correctly. Edit the includes/setup_options_inc.asp in notepad and change the way cookies are set and also change the forum to save sessions to the database. I have the same issue. On the client side, I tried deleting cookies, cache, three different browsers (IE8, Chrome, Firefox). No-luck. It must be server-side. I changed the setup_options_inc.asp as suggested and tried it for a day or so. Huge downside is that "new" messages are reset constantly now and do not reflect actual new posts. Also, the CAPTCHA issue is still present. This is the only web page running on a new installation of Server 2003 (32 bit). The SQL Express 2008 box is a different machine. Any clues? Thanks! |

| In-order to log-in to the forum (not the admin area), I edited the login-attempts in SQL and set it to 0. This doesn't work-around the issue getting into the administration console. |

Nothing has changed in 9.60 in regards to logging in, the main difference in 9.60 is a new installation wizard. The issue that you describe sound like server issue with the server unable to hold ASP sessions.
