Hello,

I saw in some of the install pages that access database is not recommended for anything but testing.  We recently upgraded from 7.9 to 9.56.  I probably should have just left things at 7.9, as this forum is very lightly used and it worked fine for our needs.

I am considering just leaving the forum on Access database.  Is there risk of corruption or a lot of bugs/trouble with this, or should it be ok with light traffic?

Also, I guess a few years from now, I could hire a programmer to make a translation if it became necessary?  Is this service offered on this site?

Thanks,
Eric

The use of Access databases in websites is slowly being phased out by Microsoft in favour of it's SQL Server database. Although Access is OK for light work you can see database corruption issues when under load or when database sizes get larger.

We do move Access database to SQL Server with websites hosted on our own network with Web Wiz Forums hosting starting from just 4.99 per month and include the Premium Brand Free Edition:-

Hi,
Thanks for the info.  I think I will run on Access for now.  It is good to know that we can move the forum forward to SQL at 4.99 per month.  Atleast I dont have to worry about losing all the forum data if/when we move forward.

Thanks,
Eric
