If anyone of you is still using Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124.0 and earlier, update your Flash Player ASAP!! It was http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa08-08.html" rel="nofollow - reported that Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124.0 and earlier versions could let a hacker remotely activate your PC's webcam or microphone and they could see or hear what you're doing!! |

Summary: Please keep in mind that this is possible with any version of Flash, or for that matter any plugin/extension that is added in any browser. All it takes is a little time and any hacker with know how can access your ports via the browser of choice. Advice: -Never allow browsers to store passwords and cookies. -Always clear cache after ending browsing session. Run systematic checks on your computer, such as, Spybot - Search & Destroy. -Use HijackThis and online Port checkers. -Always keep your Firewall, browsers, and OS up-to-date with their updates. -Be cautious to only open up emails from people whom you actually know, especially if there is an attachment, as hidden code can be activated just by viewing an email. Who is safe then? -No one. So long as you are connected to the Internet, then your computers ports are instantly open up. The only sure way of avoiding losing control over your own computer is by not being connected to the Internet in the first place. What should I do then if we are not 100% protected? -Minimize the likelihood of this scenario playing out (i.e. having your computer remotely controlled by another) by following the Advice mentioned above, and just keep in the back of your mind whenever you are browsing a website that there maybe malicious arbitrary code embed in that website. Conclusion: It is like with most activities in life. There is always the possibility that things may go wrong. Here is a simple analogy; whenever a person operates a vehicle (i.e. drive a car), there is always the possibility that they could be involved in a serious accident, What helps minimize this possibility is by constantly checking the oil, tyre pressure and tread, seat-belts, mirrors, the road conditions, and et cetera (as an example with operating a vehicle). the same goes for surfing the Internet (i.e. there is always the possibility that your ports could be hacked). Don't be paranoid, but be cautious!
