I have just upgraded from 9.5 to 9.6. Had run the upgrade on my local server to test changes to files for my skin. All okay.

Just uploaded all files to the servers (Web Wiz). I had locked down the forum and ran a backup. Deleted all file (except upload) and loaded all 9.6 files. Still had admin open (not that it would have mattered) except that there was probably an active session.

Point browser at domain/forum and got the server error for access to the DB as the DB connection was still set to my Localhost. Fixed the file but what I did was to manually change the connection data which what I now suppose I should have done was to set all to "". Actually went back and did that ("") but got a cant connect error. Changed back to DB connect data.

I never got the setup page and the site loaded and appears to be okay but I'm not sure if the DB has now been upgraded. Have posted a support ticket but probably should have posted here first.

Is there some way I can check if the DB was updated?

I you are hosting the forum with ourselves then just fill in a support ticket for us to do the upgrade for you for free.

As far as what has gone wrong with your upgrade, you made the mistake of uploading your local copy that you had already setup to the servers when what you need to do is upload the original, not setup, files to the server so that the setup wizard can run.

However, if upgrading from a version 9.x forum then there is no database changes as database changes are only made between major version releases, although this may change in the future.

Thanks Bruce. I thought that was the problem. Just wanted to be sure. I had filled in a support ticket before posting here.

Everything should be okay then.
