Hi, I've switched to 1and1.co.uk after hosting with a terrible host - but the forum, which thank God was backed up, isn't appearing, just a vertical list of empty numbered links.

Is there something I need to do to knit the forum data back into the website again? Thanks!

Oh no! Out of the frying pan and into the fire springs to mind here. 1&1 are a German company, just mention 1&1 to any seasoned web developer and watch their face drop.

Unfortunately their servers also have limitations and are one of only a handful of windows web hosts that are listed in our non supported web hosts section for our Web Wiz Forums Premium Edition software as restrictions they have in place stop the software from running.

As well as web hosting we do hosted solutions of Web Wiz Forums if you wanted to stick it out with 1&1:-

Hi Mike
I previously was with 1&1 until thank god I found Bruce and web wiz hosting. For the sake of no defamation I won't say what I think about them, but I would suggest that you could do 2 things

1. The smart thing would be to cancel your agreement if it is within 60 days of signing and move immediately http://www.webwiz.net?AID=203" rel="nofollow - to web wiz who provide a forum as part of the package and benefit from a better hosting company who care
2. Did I mention number one??? LOL Wink

I know it may sound awful to say move, and it probably sounds biased, but honestly, ditch them if you can and at least try someone better

Thanks guys. I'm not sure what you're saying though - are you saying you don't really like 1and1, and it's UNFEASIBLE to host Web Wiz Forums with them, or is it possible nevertheless to use them (with some degree of inconvenience)?

They host some of my other sites with no real problems - I have the business package and they answer email or phone queries quickly, also telling me that they see no problem with Web Wiz - so personally, not having such technical needs, I've never had great demands of them.

If it's impossible to host Web Wiz, then I'll certainly follow your advice though!

No 1&1 can not fully run Web Wiz Forums on their shared hosting accounts, please see the unsupported web hosts page in server software requirements:-
