New Installation seems to be fine (I can edit forum settings and have added some text forums) but when viewing any forum I get the following message:

Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_get_topics_data
File Name:- forum_topics.asp

The error means that you have installed the SQL Server 2005/2008 version when you are using SQL Server 2000.

Re-upload the original files again, but as you have now crated the database when the setup wizard runs select a 9.x upgrade option and this time for the database select SQL Server 2008.

Excellent, thank you Bruce.

Should I be asking my host to upgrade to 2005/08 SQL versions then?

Using SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008 will give much better performance due to server side paging.

However if your web host is yet to upgrade I doubt they will as upgrading SQL Server is a huge deployment. They may though have other database servers running SQL Server 2005 or 2008 that you can move to.
