Hi all -
We have the free version of WW Forum 8.3 running on our club's website. Several members (and I) have tried to have email notifications turned to receive a notification when a posting is made to a topic without success. I've checked what I believe to be the basic settings (e.g., ensure when http://www.delval.org/webwiz/forum/email_notify.asp?FID=1&TID=415&PN=1" rel="nofollow - Toggle Email Notification for this Topic is clicked that it confirms email notification is ON, making sure my profile has my email address, etc.) and they all look good. Still, no email notifications seem to be going out.
If someone can give me a clue as to how to better troubleshoot this I would appreciate it.
TIA

It sounds like you have enabled email notifications.
If they are not coming through then you should contact your web hosts and ask them what email settings you need to relay emails.

Bruce -
I will contact our webhost to find out. What would I then do with that information? It sounds to me as if you are implying that the forum admin needs to "enable" email notification (before a visitor can use it) and that the admin might have options as to how the email notifications are sent?
TIA

Bruce -
I just contacted our hosting company and described the situation. They asked (and I don't know) if the WebWiz forum software uses ASP scripts or PHP. Our hosting plan is on a Microsoft box, so we'd need to use ASP. Could this be the issue?
Hope this helps!

More info...
I played with the various email settings in the forum admin area... none really worked, yet no errors that I can see. I then decided to use the "email this topic" link to see if that would work... thinking that link uses the same process/settings to send the email. That link DOES work... so... ???

Web Wiz Forums is written in ASP.
What you need to do is ask your host the following:-
1. What email component do you need to use (usually CDOSYS) 2. What is the mail server address 3. Do their mail servers require authentication and if so what would the username and password be
