Hi

I have an old version of WebWix 7.6. I have upgraded to the latest version, Now I have a problem with the special characters å, ä, ö (Swedish). The characters in the forum look very funny.

I have the old forum still running in another place on my server. The old forum works perfectly but when I moved the files to another place and upgraded it messed up the characters.

Could it be the FTP software that messed it up? I changed the FTP software so that it makes the transfer in utf-8 but still I have a problem.

Please check the strange characters in the new forum

Any idea what to do?

Henry

I was unable to loom at both your forums but it sounds like an encoding issue.

You need to open in a text editor the file includes/setup_options_inc.asp and change the page encoding near the bottom of the file to one that works with your character set.

If I get it to work...I will tell you otherwise I will try the thing you wrote above...Thanks anyway.

Hmm...I really dont know what to change in the code.

'Unicode UTF-8
Const strPageEncoding = "utf-8"

'Western European ISO
'Const strPageEncoding = "iso-8859-1"

I am located in Sweden and both of these codes are in that file. What should I change?

Change these two lines to the following:-

'Unicode UTF-8
'Const strPageEncoding = "utf-8"

'Western European ISO
Const strPageEncoding = "iso-8859-1"

That will change it to the ISO-8859-1 page encoding which should work with Sweedish as I beleive other Sweedish sites use this page encoding.

Hi again

These lines are already written in the file you mentioned. So..I dont know what to change becuse its already there.

Shall I change some other files because when I checked the source code in default.asp I saw that : charset "utf-8" was written.

Excuse me for the bad knowledge I have in this matter.

This is the top of the default.asp or the login page for the forum

charset=utf-8" ????

The changes are simply to uncomment one line and comment the other.

In ASP the single quote mark which I had in red is how you comment a line eg:-

'Line with comment

Line without comment

Thanks..now it´s working.

By the way. The mass e-mail function is gone in the new version. Or...am I blind?
Is there a way to recover that because that was very good.

In NewsPad I believe it is in the file includes/browser_page_encoding_inc.asp
