Is it necessary to have the user name for the sql server connection to be in the role of db_owner? I am trying to limit the amount of permissions this user name should have on the database. After creating the database with the script. Can I just switch the role for this user name to db_datareader and  db_datawriter without there being any adverse effects with stored proceedures or other database functions required by the forum.

I would think that would be OK.   Reader and Writer should have the necessary permissions to fulfill all the WWF functions.

Shouldn't be too hard to test though..

and... the errors will tell you what you need permissions to alter.

I'd check if you have EXEC permissions on the stored procs.
