I have users who have Verizon Motorola Droids, and they seem to have problems entering text on new post or reply forms.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  The users say this *seems* only to be with Webwiz, and that other forums seem to work correctly on the Droid.

Follow-up, additional info....this appears to be a Droid problem, for example see:

I have the same problem with my Android phone. If they turn off WYSIWYG they should be able to reply.

It is because currently the forum IDs the browser in the droid as a Safari browser and enables WYSIWYG but the phone browser can not handle WYSIWYG yet. Only fix for it at the moment is for the user to turn off WYSIWYG while browsing on their phone.

Hope this was helpful.

Do you know what the User Agent is for the browser used in these phones so that the RTE detection can be updated to correctly identify these browsers?

OK found it, they both use Android and the User Agen appears to be:-

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.0; en-us; dream) AppleWebKit/525.10+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0.4 Mobile Safari/523.12.2

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.0; en-us; generic) AppleWebKit/525.10+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0.4 Mobile Safari/523.12.2

Will update this for the next version so that this browser can be detected correctly and the RTE WYSIWYG Editor automatically disabled for these users.

Would someone please help me with patching this in the meantime?  I am getting a user revolt because I turned off WYSIWYG for everyone in order to make the smartphones work.

Edit in a text editor the file functions/functions_common.asp and change line 310 to the following:-

If inStr(1, strUserAgent, "iPhone", 1) OR inStr(1, strUserAgent, "iPod", 1) OR inStr(1, strUserAgent, "Android", 1) Then

Don't forget to also check for Windows Mobile users. Some of them get the same problem depending on which version and browser they are using.

Line number was a couple lines off, but I found it, and the patch seems to recognize the Droid phone correctly.  RTE is back on for everyone else.  Serenity has returned to the pond, and all is well.

Thanks !!
