Most of us know that MySQL is going thru a hard time after Sun Microsystems (MySQL owner since 2008) agreed to be bought by Oracle, some say they will end with MySQL.

I am starting to worry about it, cuz my option was for MySQL in my hosting account, is there a way to move my database to MS SQL later if MySQL stops?

Thanks

I can not see mySQL being dropped as Oracle and mySQL are both very much different database systems with different markets. Oracle is much moire of an enterprise solution and mySQL more useful in the web environment.

Even if they did we would continue to support mySQL on whatever last version they release.

We also have software here that can do much of the migration work to export the database to SQL Server, although as there are some differences such as Bit and Small Int may mean having to manually go through and change some database datatypes after the migration.

I hope you are right, Bruce. But it still good to know that there is a solution, just in case...
