Subject: I got this message-There are no Forums to display

I set up an new web wiz forum V9.65.

Since I have an old snitz forum, it took me three days to transfer all data to WWF.

The strange thing is: When I login, I can see all forums and posts. But if I logout, the forum shows:
There are no Forums to display.

That is, if a guest visits the forum, he can't see any thing but a blank WWF.

Is that normal? or there's some setting should do?

Thanks!

That is not normal. Moving data from one database to another that has a different schema is not straight forward and I would very much doubt you would end up with a stable forum at the end of it.

In fact, I'm doing the database migration by reference this topic : http://forums.webwiz.net/migrating-from-snitz-lets-work-this-out_topic16577_page1.html" rel="nofollow - Topic: Migrating From Snitz - LETS WORK THIS OUT  , and made some corrections my self.

After three day's hard work (for me an amateur), The internal link between posts/replies/authors are all done and correct, I think the most difficult part should be done already, but the issue " There are no Forums to display" become the biggest problem ....Cry

Can anyone help me to find out possible way to solve this last problem?

You did not remove the built in admin acoc**t (tblAuthor ID 1) or the Guest acoc**t (tblAuthor ID 2)from the database, and the same with the built in admin and guest group.

If you did this will prevent the forum from running as it should.

I obey MortiOli's script's documentation, delete that two records, and compact database, all table record's ID counts from 1.

I try to delete the first two records, now even when I login, it shows a blank forum.

So I restore the db.

My environment: w2k server / SQL 7.0 / charset=big5

Here's my migration effort:

Four days ago, I have install a brand new WWF over blank SQL7.0 database and works OK. (during installation select SQL server 2000)

The MortiOli's script works for access db, so I use SQL to export my snitz forum's db to an access .mdb file, and use this .mdb file, install a new WWF over it. And it works well.

Then testing and running for three days, all data transferred to WWF.

So I use SQL server to import the .mdb , make a new SQL db, and install a new WWF over this new SQL db. At first I choose "New installation",but it will make a new db, So I start over again, select "upgrade from WWF 9.x" and then finish the process without error messages.

Sine MortiOli's script runs with access db, my original and final db is SQL, this is the only way I know to transfer the data.

SQL db-->access db-->MortiOli's -->access new db-->SQL db-->WWF install over existing SQL db

I think this procedure should have somthing wrong.......Cry

Finally I solved the problem: my Guest group is missing, and there are no permission for guests. Added proper Guest group, and save Guest access permission for all forums, it works fine now!

I also have the above problem. We don't have any guest access so no forums are visible until a user logs in. Some of our new users have been put off by seeing that 0 posts in 0 forums and assumed that the forum is no longer active.

Is there any way to disable the Statistics from showing when no Forums are accessible to a user?
