This is already a feature of the forum. As long as you have Email Notification enabled then you will find a Report Post option under the Post Option download in the top right of the post.

It will not appear through for your own posts, only for posts others have made.

In the version you are running 9.50 it will not appear if you are logged in as an admin or moderator as you have the right to delete the post anyway. However, it is available to all in later versions so other moderates can report posts they are unsure of.

An email is then sent containing the post and the reason for it being reported to all admins and moderators of that forum who have a valid email address in their account.

Hi Bruce

Thanks for the advice, I was sure that you would have created this function,  Is there anyway to move the report post to a button on the main banner beside the Post Options button. If so can you give me clue which function to edit and in which asp file to look. The code snippet would be great if its not to much to ask. as I am sure a lot of people would like this as its becoming a requirement for children related forums, I purchased you forum software last year for the British Aikido Board who now use it for the Child Protection and Safeguarding area.

As you know, I use version 9.50, Is their any major reason to upgrade, I have not made very many changes

You would need to place the following code into the forum_posts.asp file where you wanted the report post button to display:-

Response.Write(vbCrLf & "     <a href=""report_post.asp?PID=" & lngMessageID & "&amp;FID=" & intForumID & "&amp;TID=" & lngTopicID & "&amp;PN=" & intRecordPositionPageNum & strQsSID2 & """>" & strTxtReportPost & "</a>

There are lots of reasons to upgrade from 9.50 as there has been allot of work done on the forums since then including:-

  • New installation/upgrade wizard
  • Topic Sharing Social Bookmark/Sharing
  • Improved Search Engine Optimisation URL Rewriting
  • Added new Animated Emoticons (smiles)
