A long time ago(at least 6 years ago) I had a site I set up for my wife, it had on it the WWForum and WWGuestbook. The site has not been active for at least 4 maybe 5 years, she now wants me to get her old site up and running again without the forum. I still have all the files and the access db's. My problem is I do not remember what the admin password was for the WWGuestbook!

I have looked in the config table in the database and can see the username=admin and the password=randomstringofletterandnumbers

Does anyone know/and would be willing to help me, please my wife :) and reverse engineer the password?

Thannks

The internet world's changed considerably in the past 4-5 years. Don't think I'd use a guest book that was that old as it probably doesn't have captcha built in.

Even with captcha and post approval, guest books are still prime targets for porn spammers. Frankly, keeping them cleaned up is usaully more troulble than they're worth.

To your question though, somewhere there;s a routine that encrypts the entered password and compares it to the stored password. You need to figure out what encryption algorithm that routine is using.
Most likely, it's an MD5 Hash. Google can provide many code examples for converting to/from MD5.
