I have chosen sql2005 ,and when i completed username and password ,i receive the following error. I forgot to mention that the previous site was in a win2000 server ,and the site with 9.69 version i have put it to a windows 2003 pro server.

An Error Occurred Connecting to the Database

I've not used Win2k3 or SQL Server 2005 for years, so trying to remember back as what would fix the issue.

Have you not considered missing Win2k3 and SQL Server 2005 as they are 2 versions behind now and go straight for Windows 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2? As find them much more stable.

I suspect the error is due to not having the SQL Server drivers installed on the web server. Try installing Microsoft SQL Native Client

Dear Sir ,
Thank you for answer. I followed your advice. I have put the forum in Windows 2008 r2 IIS. I left the database to sql server 2005 ,i have upgraded it to the last sql build. I have connected succesfully.

I can connect to the forum ,write posts without problem. BUT ,i do have a problem and i can't solve it and i need your help if you can. I cannot send emails. I use cdosys(i cannot install cdonts ,i have an error when i try to register). I press test and i receive all emails any time i press test. I'm going to my profile ,i subscribe a forum ,i put my email in my profile and when another user write a post i receive it to my email. But i cannot receive all the following posts, only the first one.. I don't know why. When i'm going again to my profile and put another email account ,the user writes a post and i receive the first post to this email account. But still i cannot receive all the following posts. So if i change email account to my profile ,the first post comes to my email ,all the others don't come.

Any idea to make it work. All the users want to receive posts to their email accounts.

Thanks in advance.

Dimitris

Hi
You will only receive posts for the first time that someone posts a reply, otherwise you would get countless emails

No you are wrong ,or i didn't myself clear to understand. I have set my email address in my profile.Correct? Correct. When someone posts anything i receive always the first post. I don't receive all the other posts, new topics etc. until i change my email address. When i change my email address ,and put another ,i receive the first post someone does ,but i don't receive all the others. I always receive the first post ,i don't reveive the others.I hope i made you understand now.

When you subscribe to a forum you receive a notification the first time someone posts informing you a post has been made in that forum/topic and there maybe others.

You will not receive any other notifications you only get informed about the first post (and there maybe others). You will receive another notification when someone posts after your next visit.

I'm sure this might be possible, but then what you want a backlog of emails being sent all day long?
I'll leave Bruce with this to give you the final answer
