Hi!

I have version 9.69 installed and the page encoding is utf-8.

Everything is ok except from the activation e-mail.

With utf-8:
For å aktivere din forum-konto i ADHD Forum klikk på linken under:
With iso-8859-1:
For å aktivere din forum-konto i ADHD Forum klikk på linken under:

It's working with iso-8859-1, but then the rest is NOT good...

What's the problem?

One way around this issue is to locate the text in your language file and change the characters causing the problems to HTML encoding.

Hmm... Not working.

Tried to use å for å, but with no change in the mail.

"For å aktivere din forum-konto..."

Is the page encoding set in the includes/setup_options_inc.asp file?

If so then the page encoding should also be included with the email header so the email client knows what character set to encode the email using.

If you use an advanced text editor such as UltraEdit when you do a 'save as' to save the translated language files you can select to save them in a different encoding such as UTF-8 to ensure that the language files are also using the correct encoding.

Hi!

Yes the page encoding is set in the includes/setup_options_inc.asp file...
The email header was utf-8
I tried UltraEdit with no luck.

One solution was to change the function_send_mail.asp file:
.Charset = "iso-8859-1"

I was almost ok...
The text:
Dette er en Test på Æ Ø Å æ ø å

In the mail:
Dette er en Test på Ã? Ã~ Ã. æ ø å

Logic? Nope :-)

The only thing I can think to suggest is change the encoding for your whole forum to iso-8859-1.

It will mean that some posts saved under the old encoding will show incorrectly, but any new posts would be saved under the new encoding.

You may also need to go through the settings in the admin area and re-save them under the new encoding so they also display correctly.
