Hi,

we run a website PWCFoums .co.uk

we recently moved servers and upgraded with a fresh install V9.6 -> v9.7

but it seems anyone trying to register with any name at all gets error:

The Username you requested is already taken, not permitted, or is less than 2 characters long.
Please choose another Username.

we have tried looking at the pages and regenerated the page from zip but seems odd any ideas?

Often strange errors like this are caused by corrupted files during FTP. Try re-uploading the orginal files again and see if that solves the issue.

hi,

we have 2 Websites running WWF, on the server website 1 wont register users but everything else seems to be working.

Website 2, works fine and no issues. i have tried copying the files from Website 2 over website one and still same issues, making sure i delete the certain files and settings etc that need re instating.

all it does is come up with that error.

The bad word filter was updated last summer to allow Regular Expressions. Looking at your forum I think that it maybe one of your words in the bad word filter is causing the forum to reject the username.

A * is a wild card character in regular expressions, so replace the word * then it would catch all words as being a bad word in the filter. You can escape this using \ so you could change this to \*
