Is there a way of actually restricting access to which users can actually then access the editor, create pages and then be able to upload and save them?
I cannot seem to locate any information on this, but I would assume that some sort of login protection would be available

The editor is made to be applied to your own existing applications to turn text areas in to HTML areas. Any protection would be written in to your own application before you apply the RTE to your text areas.
