Subject: new forum setup issue?
Date Posted: 09 May 2011 at 9:04pm
Hello,
I am trying to setup new forum on new Win2008R2/IIS7 server, SQL2008R2 DB. I did everything according to http://www.webwiz.net/web-wiz-forums/kb/sql-server-install.htm" rel="nofollow - http://www.webwiz.net/web-wiz-forums/kb/sql-server-install.htm , connection to DB successfull, NTFS permissions for IUSR was set to read/write...
But wizard can't move to "Success" page, but moving to beginning again and again :(
I checked configuration files - no changes...

Could you please help me, what should be fixed?

With Windows 2008 R2 there are a couple of things that could cause this.

1. Permissions issue. Have a look at the application pool for the website that you are installing the forum on and set read,write, and modify permissions on the forums 'database' folder for the user or user group that the app pool is running under.

2. Edit using the Advanced Setting option the settings of the app pool that the forums website is running under and set the following:-

General -> Enable 32-Bit Applications - True
Process Model -> Maximum Worker Process - 1
Rapid Fail Protection -> Enabled - False

Thank you!
Just changed  (2), but can't find (1) - there are folder's permissions, not pool...

Nevetheless, configuration files were changed, but nothing was created in DB (connection test was sucessful) - probably there is some issue in v9.72?

With the permissions you need to have a look at the application pool that the forum is running under and see what user account it is running under. Once you know this you can go to the forums 'database' folder and give that user account read, write and modify permissions on the folder.

If you can not find the user account then what you can do is grant read, write, and modify permissions to EVERYBODY on the database folder. WARNING: This is a dangerous permission to set as it gives everyone permissions to read, write, and modify this folder, so as soon as the setup has complete remove the EVERYBODY permission from the folder immediately!
