Just set up the Beta release and am immediately getting a 500 Error when it updates (from 1.X). It doesn't even look as if it's actually updated anything?
Nothing on my server has been changed from 1.3 and the server is already set up with redirects which work(ed) perfectly for the Forum 9.73 and Newspad 1.3
I have deleted the web.config from the root of newspad but it's making no difference. Is there any other setting somewhere which is looking for these possible redirects. It's driving me nuts!

Turn off friendly error messages in your browser options to see what's actually causing the problem.

Friendlies are OFF but nothing further than the plain old 500 ... (Tried in Chrome/IE/FireFox). Any other suggestion?
I've been using Forum since 2002 and NewsPad since 2006 (So I have a clue) but I suspect it's something naughty happening in the Beta NewsPad!

You may need to enabled detailed error message on the server to get the actual error message to know what the issue is.
To be able to workout what is going wrong really need a detailed error message or allot more detail such as type of upgrade, database version, name of file where you have the error, etc.
You may have a corrupted file, so try download NewsPad again and see if that helps.

OK ... that's plain daft! Re-downloaded (exactly the same size, seemingly) and re-upped an ran setup ... and it worked perfectly!
You gotta hand it to these machines; they've a mind of their own?
Anyhow, thanks for your comments as I was about to have a hissy fit at my PC!!
P.S. Been testing Forum Beta and it's looking fab ...

P.S. What's the "difference" between eNewsletters and Blogs.
I've been sending out a Newsletter using 1.03 since May 2009 and all that information has now been "transformed" into "blogs" (which isn't exactly what I wanted, but it's no biggie). I think you ought to give the option when upgrading as to what to do with existing content?
Thanks Bruce ...

eNewsletters and News Items (now called Blog Posts) have been separated allowing you to create Blog/News Posts to show on the website and then create eNewsletters separately to send allowing you to customise the web view and email view.
eNewsletters would not be shown on the website.

Ahh ... OK! I did try the new settings in NewsPad and found this out, but was a little confused when I disabled blogs and then found that all the Forum "Newsletters" when clicked on took you to a "subscriber" page.
Perhaps this needs to be fully explained Bruce as this is a MAJOR change in the way NewsPad integrates with the Forum and the whole purpose of NewsPad has changed as a result (I used it specifically to send out a monthly Newsletter ... now I'll have to call it a Monthly Blog?!!!
Whilst I can "understand" this change I'm not convinced that it's not a retrograde step ...

You can still use NewsPad in the same way as you did previously, but with the advantage that if you wish you can show different format on your website to what you sendout in eNewsletters.
If only want to sendout eNewseltters and not display them on your website then you can disable the web front end exatcly the same as in NewsPad version 1.
If you want to show eNewsletters in your website like in NewsPad 1 then you can disable the comments feature and create your eNewsletter as a Blog Post which once created can then be sent as an eNewsletter. This way you would be using NewsPad 2 in the same way as NewsPad 1.
The changes to NewsPad to be a Blogging Platform is in the announcement:-
http://blogs.webwiz.net/web-wiz-newspad-2-beta_post62.html
The website will be updated to let people know this when the full version is released, at the moment NewsPad 2 is still in only available in beta for testing purposes and as a first beta will no doubt have a number of bugs that will need ironing out before it's release.

Thanks Bruce ... Your explanation is "self explanatory" as I had worked this out for myself as well.
However, NewsPad was in severe need of a revamp and this Beta looks pretty good so far. I haven't come across any "bugs" but will give it a full test run towards the end of the month when I send out my "Newsletter/Blog" to 3,500+ users. That'll be the acid test ...
Thanks for the helpful topic post (Thanked) ...
