If you are upgrading from a previous version of Web Wiz Forums to version 10 passwords created in versions prior to version 10 will be in lower case.

If you have upgraded to version 10 until version 10.01 is release you would need to inform your members that they need to login with their passwords in lower case.

Passwords created or updated in version 10 will be case sensitive.

Hi Bruce,

For some bizarre reason on my site I had a bunch of people who couldn't log in but most could, these were people moved over from PHPBB3.  I had no idea why, then I saw this post and thought I would try and see if it was the reason and for some reason it is.

Does the HTTP forum API change the passwords, IE lower case them for version 9.x?  I think PHPBB is case sensitive passwords, so this would explain why my users can't login if true!

Tom

Web Wiz Forums version 10.01 has now been released, which will fix the issue of legacy passwords being lower case and this new release supports both legacy passwords and new case sensitive passwords, by checking both formats at login time.

You can download version 10.01 from the http://www.webwiz.net/web-wiz-forums/forum-downloads.htm" rel="nofollow - Web Wiz Forums download page.

Hi Bruce don't know if you saw the other message I posted, but as I understand it the passwords are now case sensitive, but in 10.01 the HTTPAPI forces lowercase on all passwords which could cause some issues

This has been fixed for the next release, but as 10.01 supports both new and legacy passwords this should not be an issue.
