Hi,

We are in the process of moving the site from mone hosting provider to another.  We are using an Access Database, this used to run on version 7.8.  I followed the instructions on how to upgrade to a newer version, everything goes fine until the very end, after a few messages came up confirming creation of tables, then this error:

Error
The Database Setup Wizard has can not find a previous Web Wiz Forums tables in the database to update.

Replace the database/database_settings.asp file with the one from the orginal Web Wiz Forums download and start the setup process again.

When I do this, then I get the error:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while connecting to the database.
Please contact the Forum Administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_db_connection
File Name:- database_connection.asp
Forum Version:- 10.02

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
Unrecognized database format 'E:\kunden\homepages\41\d379985641\www\forum\database\TTFORUM.mdb'.

I am using the instructions to the letter, can you please help so we can get our forum back up and running please?

The error suggests that your Access database is corrupted. This is quite common for Access database which are meant for desktop environment hence why it is not support for Web Wiz Forums in a production environment.

You could try downloading and compacting and repairing the database in Microsoft Access to see if that fixes the issue, if not you maybe stuck on version 7.8

Thank you for the reply.  I have been looking on the internet today to see if I could find version 7.8, but had no luck.  Do you possibly have a copy for me so I can try and get the forum back up?  I will also speak to the members to see if we can't rather then migrate to version 10.2 with a MS SQL database, which has been recommended today by the hosting company.  The main concern is that we don't want to loose the forum, but from what you said it seems it is something we will have to consider.

Hi,

I need your help if possible.  I have asked for the old files to be sent to me, and I have now replaced the files on my server with the old files.  When I try and refresh the address  http://s379985655.websitehome.co.uk/default.asp - http://s379985655.websitehome.co.uk/default.asp, I get this error message:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

'D:\webspace\tottenhamtrust.com\db\TTForum.mdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.

/common.asp, line 260

If I remove this physical path, I get this error:

Provider error '80040e4d'

Authentication failed.

/common.asp, line 260

Could you please help to tell me what I should do to get the forum to work on the new server?Cry

You should contact your web host and ask them how you connect to an Access database on their systems.
