Yesterday my &$#&*#$ hosting company took the forum offline due to bulk emailing.

It turns out that bulk emailing involved a few hundred emails for topic notifications.

I was wondering (if v10 does not do that already) if it is possible to add a few options there.

For instance:

  1. Set how many notifications per day and per topic a user can receive
  2. Set a limit to a user's total notifications per day
  3. Offer a digest of email notifications once or twice per day, or one per day or week etc.

I understand that this problem is related to the *#&$&#^@ hosting company I am using, but it may be useful for others too.

This is a common issue if you have your email settings set to send out email notifications regardless of last visit date of member.

In your email settings in the admin area you should enable this feature so that the member gets only 1 notification per topic until they visit the forum again.

I have a related question. I am using v9.69 or something and I do not know if this has been fixed.

When I de-activated the email notifications from the administration page, the link to password reminder was removed from the login page.

I believe these 2 functions are completely unrelated and deactivating email notification should not remove the link to receive your lost password by email.
