Hey,

new to the forum. I have taken over management of our website and forums because I have the most expertise, but it is lacking when it comes to html and such.

Most of the stuff works fine, however I can't find where the email addresses are stored on the ftp, for when something is sent on from us (mainly membership activations). Could someone enlighten me? Sorry, I know it's a really beginner question, I just didn't put the site together (and never have) so am struggling to find it.

Thanks.

You would need to login to your online admin area and edit the Email Settings page to change the settings for your forums email, including the email address used for sending emails.

no, sorry, I'm struggling. If you mean the email access on the forum, it doesn't offer the ability to change any emails, apart from Your Email Address.

Can you clarify what you mean by online admin area, that would make this easier, sorry! Do you mean an area on the ftp or ?

If you login as the forum admin you will have an 'Admin' link at the top of the forum which will take you to the online Admin Control Panel (Admin Area) which is used for configuring and setting up forums.

The online forum admin area works in your browser just like the frontend of the forum and does not have anything to do with FTP.

You want to contact the person you took control over the forum from and make sure they gave you the login to the built in admin account used for managing the forum through the backend online admin area.

Have a look at the http://www.webwiz.net/web-wiz-forums/forum-demo.htm" rel="nofollow - Web Wiz Forums Demo page at the Admin Control Panel as this will give you an idea of how you mange the forum through the admin area.

thanks for replying again Bruce. Are you saying there is one Admin account [strikethrough]to rule all others[/strikethrough] that has higher access than the others?

Yes there is a super admin account which is hardcoded to always be the admin account and has extra privileges over any other account.

hey again. Thanks, I've found it but am unable to change this:

there is an info@retro.co.uk (for example) and it is being forwarded to a dead address, where is the option to change this? Is that done in the asp side? I mean, I have looked everywhere on the forum and can't find how to change this. Sorry for being a pain.

Any forwarding would be done by the company hosting the email address. You would need to contact them in order to findout how to change the forwarder.

don't want to create a new thread, but now I can't get a couple of subforums to disappear? All guest settings are set to no access, which works for all the rest, but it doesn't seem to work with these two.

Forum access is all set to private groups and forum admin, so I am struggling to see what else I can do here?

Sub forums have their own permissions. You need to make sure that the forum permissions for the sub forum are correctly set.

sub forum permissions are set as follows:

Hide if no access (ticked)

Everything else (apart from create stickies) is selected as private groups

Make sure you have unchecked the Access permissions column for the Guest Group.
